Our Philosophy
Primo Chocolab is a single-origin artisanal chocolate factory based in Tabanan, Bali founded in 2008. We source directly from farmers and cooperatives across Bali and Indonesia. From designing to manufacturing our proprietary machinery, we value the craft at every step of the process. All of our chocolate is gently roasted and stone-ground at low temperatures for 72 hours. The bespoke equipment we built centres around a single focus: highlighting the character of each origin.
About The Founder
Giuseppe Verdacchi, an Italian architect, founded Primo Chocolate (Now Primo Chocolab) in the early 2000, motivated by his love of chocolate and the ethical treatment of farmers. Giuseppe was raised near the city of Perugia, which is famous for its Perugina Chocolates, and is inspired to open his own factory, producing the highest quality handcrafted chocolate possible.
Primo Chocolab is proud to continue its journey in creating the finest and most sustainably produced chocolate with the goal of producing the finest and most sustainably produced chocolate. From acquiring and testing locally grown cocoa beans to collaborating with farmers who utilize sustainable agricultural methods to investing in research to extract the most premium chocolate taste and aroma possible. Primo's chocolate is created with the community's trust, as well as its ethics and beliefs, in mind.
Our Process
The cocoa beans we source are treated delicately and with the utmost care, using unique protocols depending on each individual source. We roast at low temperatures and grind at low speeds over a long period. The total process takes around 90 hours to create a chocolate bar. This ensures that we can extract the maximum amount of flavour and aroma from the cocoa beans, giving our clients a truly unique chocolate experience.
